Emoticon vs Emoji
First, we need to distinguish between "emoticons" and "emojis".
Emoticons are usually simple sequences of punctuations such as : ) or : D, so we detect them by regular expression.
Emojis include classic emoticons ( such as : ) → ) and other pictographs. They are detectable by Unicode standard (for example, \U0001F300).
